Emory and WABE present “Health Wanted,” a fun, fresh, and myth-busting alternative to the critical health discussions impacting communities.

Host Laurel Bristow, a research scientist and infectious disease expert at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health, delivers the week’s essential public health headlines and demystifies the science behind trending topics.

A social media influencer with a following of 381,000 on Instagram, Bristow covers everything from Ozempic to the ozone, interviewing experts and answering listeners’ questions. She has a master's of science from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and has worked in infectious disease for a decade. “In a time filled with misinformation and complex scientific literature, our show aims to provide a wealth of easy-to-digest and scientifically accurate information,” she says. “We aspire to be a beacon of sanity, humor, and vital scientific truth, helping listeners navigate through the noise with clarity and confidence.”

Bristow came to Emory in 2018 as part of the Hope Clinic Vaccine Center, then joined the Emory/Georgia TB Research Advancement Center as associate program director.

Prior episodes of the podcast include the topics of aging, psychedelics, reproductive health, clinical trails, maternal mortality, the opioid crisis, vaccines, microplastics, extreme heat, and mosquitoes.
